Drakelow forms the southern part of Kinver Edge. This beautiful ridge straddles the Worcestershire Staffordshire border some five miles to the north of Kidderminster and eight miles to the west of the Black Country. This area has been used as an amenity by the neighbouring industrial towns since the mid 19th century and its unspoilt beauty is widely famed and recognised.

The Drakelow Preservation Trust would like to express their deep sadness at the loss of our colleague John Gretton.

John was an extremely valued member of the committee. He was passionate about our cause, as he was about anything he saw as unjust, and knowing how the wheels of the council turned he was never afraid to ruffle a few feathers with the ‘powers that be’!

He will be remembered for his kindness, tenacity and support and above all his wicked sense of humour!

We have indeed lost a true friend.
